Guild Hotspot : Bloodpressure

As said earlyer I would like to get in touch with some guilds. And ask them some questions, so we all get to know the different guilds better. Maybe even get some tips on how you could run a guild to success.
To get it all started why not take the atm top guild on Trollbane, Bloodpressure. So I got in contact with Izaak, and presented him with the idea and questions. He was up for it, and here is the result.

Izaak ? Who is Izaak ?
Me myself, im a 23 year old guy from Southern Finland. Right now im studying the last year, working at the same time and trying to be a decent guild master for BloodPressure (From now on BP) :) Been playing WoW since summer 2005. Thats when i finished my one year's service in the army (every male has to do that in Finland). And since then ive been playing on the same warrior as my main. I started playing on the realm Bloodpscalp. Did some pvp back there, not much else. Then they opened the free migrations to Trollbane and i migrated here.
To cut a long story short, well, after migrating to Trollbane i pvp'd some more, got rank 14 and out of that fixed team i played the rank 14 with, became the core of BP. That was early spring 2006.
Why am i playing a warrior and specifically dps warrior then? Well, from pvp it was easy to start raiding as dps. I got the rank 14 gear that used to be very good in pve too, in MC and BWL. And we had enough of good tanks in BP from the start so it was natural for me to play as dps. In BWL i started playing soon as fury dw. Felt like the nicest spec to play with as a dps warrior. Since then ive been fury specced mostly. There was a time right after TBC i played as arms though. Didnt like that so now im back to fury again. Thats the story of my warrior in short.

Bloodpressure, How do you work ?
BP is a Finnish only guild, basically (We do have a few exceptions from other countries too tho). Since almost everyone in the guild speaks and understands the same language that they've been using their whole life, communication is easy. The basic structure of the guild is like most other guilds. We have a few officers who make the decisions ultimately. Then the ppl who raid are on Member rank, and then there's loads of friends or ppl who have stopped raidin, as Guests in the guild. We dont use class leaders or anything like that at all. That also means we dont function as some military organisation with a clear chain of command, like i see many other guilds doing. Instead the difference between officers and members is very small in BP. Ofc in every organisation u have to have some ppl who make the decisions. But in BP everyones voice is heard, so to say. If we make some bigger decisions we listen to every member too, not just officers. Same goes with how we take new recruits in the guild. Every member's word on them counts just as much as any officer's for. And well, we do aim pretty high what comes to pve progress. That means ofc that ppl who raid have to know their classes inside out and they have to be able to perform well in the raids always. If some new players cant do that then they are out. We want ppl who we want to raid with, if somebody doesnt fit into the guild rly, its better not to have them at all.
A big part of this is also the atmosphere we want to keep in the guild. Everyone plays mainly for the guild, not for themselves or their own epics. Our loot system supports that very well. Its a very unique wishlist based system. A little bit like a fixed price dkp. It quite well ensures all the loot goes to the one who needs it most and so that it benefits the raid most. I think thats about how we work in a nutshell.

What kind of ppl are in the guild ?
Well, the average age in the guild among raiders is now well over 20. The youngest ones are still at school, as the oldest ones have families of their own. So in that way i would say we have very different kind of ppl in the guild. And as i said its Finns 99%. Theres a couple of groups of IRL friends also, which makes it easy to catch ppl if we need them in raids and stuff. Thats also a big advantage of everyone being from the same country. If u need to catch somebody just call them :).

How long have you been around ?
Well, Blood Pressure was founded in early spring 2006. Since then weve been around. There has been some times when we havent been raiding but the guild has never ceased to exist. And its still quite many of the original ppl who founded the guild left in it. Of the raiders alone i counted at least 15 who used to raid with us from the start.

How is the spirit in the guild atm ?
The spirit is good atm. Tho we are a bit on summer holidays right now. That means we are raiding very little, 1-2 times a week max during summer time. A good show of the spirit in the guild is that we bought the gloves of immortal dusk from another server for the whole guild a few weeks ago. Everyone paying their share of the migrations.

How does the future look like for BloodPressure ?
Well, right now at least, the future looks bright. We are still planning and hoping to kill the last 2 remaining bosses in sunwell before the next expansion. That wont most likely happen until august or september earliest tho. Until then we are raiding with the summer schedule and several ppl are on holidays too, not playing at all. After that then, the plan is to continue raiding in WotLK. Hopefully the same way we did in sunwell. That's pretty far away still, im afraid. Right now M'uru and Kil'Jaeden are the first targets.

What is the best Bloodpressure moment ?
Best moment? hmm... i have to think a little about that. Its been several good moments both pre TBC and during the expansion now too. For me, the biggest achievements were when we killed cthun and patchwerk the first times pre TBC. The feeling was just awesome back then. I still like to watch those first kill videos some times :). Why was it so great then? Well, the gear we had in the guild back then was much worse than it should be when going to kill those bosses. There was some ppl in the raid running in blues and greens, even at cthun and patchwerk. That combined with the awesome ppl we had in the guild made those kills especially memorable. Now in TBC all 4 bosses we killed in sunwell felt very nice too, they were server firsts all, and the 3 first ones were pretty high in europe too.

What is the worst Bloodpressure moment ?
Hmm, well, the worst moments have been the ones when weve been forced to stop raiding with the guild, 2 times now. Been different reasons each time. Has been some burnouts and ppl quitting etc. It always feels bad when u just cant do anything about it. But so far weve always come back after a little while.

How is it like to be the top guild on Trollbane ? (Positive/negative if any)
Haha, well, i dont know if we are the top guild on Trollbane or not... We try to be good and we try to focus on doing things our way and at our time. Sure it felt nice to get some server firsts. But that never is the primary objective for us. As long as we have fun in the raids, the results have been good too.

Hopefully this helps to give some insight into BP :)

I would like to round up with a tnx to Izaak, for his time answering these questions. Hope you enjoyed reading it.
