We the Horde challenge the Alliance to meet our army in the Shimmering Flats at 3pm realm time on Saturday the 1st December 2007. Muster your militia, rouse your reserves because the Horde army is going to be there waiting for you. Come if you dare you lilly livered motherless dogs

Many of the horde that ransacked all of your cities in October will be there. If you want some revenge you can meet us face to face in open field battle - that is if you can stop cowering behind your city walls.

You can try all the tricks going: kill & camp flightmasters and graveyards, set up traps for horde entering the zone. Be assured we will do the same. This is war, not playschool. We will be there to kill each and every one of you...as you will in turn be attempting.

Time for some actual warcraft.

Ok thats the roleplay & challenge out of the way. Time for some world PvP: 2pm GMT / 3pm CET on 1/12/2007 in Shimmering Flats.

To The Alliance:

Get everyone you can find and head to the Shimmering Flats for the battle. Lets rumble. There's very little of this style of play in WoW, lets have some fun.

To The Horde:

Several horde guilds are already signed on for this but guilds that wish to take part as guilds and haven't already signed on have one of your guild officers contact me and give me an idea of the troops you're going to supply for this. A realistic number please, not "We've got 300 chars in guild so are gonna supply 300"...if you've only got 10 active players 5 of whom will be in the pub that day.

Although everyone is welcome to just turn up on the day, it will be really helpful if guilds let me know in advance if they will field a guild raid-group. Yes raid group. Now you're getting the idea of the scale of battle we're talking about.

If you are just coming on your own rather than as part of a guild, thats fine too. You know where you have to be and the date/time you have to be there. This is open to all players. As with our October outing you'll be able to message any member of Ancient Shadows on the day for organisational details.

You can be any level to join this battle although obviously it affects your survivability.

Why Shimmering Flats? Its basically one mother of a huge arena to fight in with lowbie mobs that won't interfere much. Perfect for armies. Other events have been set up in other zones at different times, yet Shimmering Flats is just right for a big fight. Both sides have a wee hike to get there and there are a couple of different routes to take to the main battle area. It also means lower level players can join without getting chain killed by high level mobs, just other players :D

I asked Bliz for support for this but I got a reply saying player events are not currently supported though that may change in the future. I'd hoped to have some Horde and Alliance flags set up around the Shimmering Flats for flavour. Actually, if we could do it I'd have liked to have had a big flag that each side can capture and then try to defend at their graveyards (but flag cannot leave Shimmering Flats). Flag appears at start of battle and disappears 2 hours later - the side which holds it the longest 'wins'.

Regardless, hope to see lots of you there. This should be a hoot :)
